Counting and Tallying
Place a pillow, a cushion and a pan on the floor and different distances. (These objects can vary depending on what you have in your home)
Each child chooses 4 soft toys they are going to use to throw.
Put a marker on the floor to show child where to stand and take it in turns to throw the toys at each object.
Child counts up how many landed on or in each object and gives themselves a score.
Child records score and in whatever way they are able to e.g. making marks to show 4 – IIII
1 2 3 4
This will help support your child’s counting ability and develop the understanding of 1-1 correspondence.
