Wildlife in Spring

30th March 2026J Parker

This week we have been learning about the life cycle of a frog.  We investigated the frog spawn and slowly over the week they grew into tadpoles.  I wonder what will happen next?

Down in Forest School another exciting development as our Air B(ee) and B opened!! The children added lots of natural resources to encourage our insects to check in, and we’re inspired to create our own bug hotel!

Healthy Choices

16th February 2026J Parker

This term ,we explored how to keep ourselves healthy by making our very own fruit smoothie and  we talked about how fruits help our bodies grow strong and give us energy.

The children took turns cutting the banana, practicing their fine motor skills and learning about safety. Each child then chose the fruits they wanted to add to the blender-blueberries, strawberries and bananas-making their own healthy combinations.

We loved how the colours changed when the fruits blended together.

The best part was enjoying the smoothie we had made ourselves- a fun and tasty way to learn about healthy eating and teamwork.

Mental Health and Well Being Week

16th February 2026J Parker

We had an amazing week in nursery this week, as we focused on emotional health and well being, introducing the children to our Colour Monsters who help to focus and support with feelings and emotions; we baked apple crumble (chopping the apples and mixing the crumble), and then shared it with our friends; painting rainbows; making cards, yoga and having fun! On Thursday we dressed in our colourful clothing and danced around to music with a rainbow of scarves in memory of our lovely and beautiful Mrs Worthington

Colour Monsters helped us explore our feelings.

We danced to all of our favourite songs!

We made rainbows to show our happy colours.

We used scarves to dance and wiggle and everyone laughed so much!

We made apple crumble….that made all of the teachers very happy!

We tried out yoga to feel calm.

Bird Watching

5th February 2026J Parker

Big Garden Bird Watch
This week we took part in ‘The Big Garden Birdwatch’. We spent time outside, listening and
watching carefully and quietly, to try and spot different birds in the nursery garden. We talked
about common birds we might see and used a visual checklist to tick off any birds that we
did see. We saw lots of seagulls, pigeons, blackbirds and crows and a beautiful little robin.
We also learned about what garden birds eat and how we can help them by providing some
extra food, especially when the ground freezes and trees are bare. With our hands, we
squashed and moulded lard, sprinkled seeds and rolled the mixture, before adding a hanger
to create our own bird feeders to take home.
I wonder if we will see any different birds in our own gardens while they enjoy eating from
our bird feeders.
