Another spooky themed week, but we have so many good stories to choose from that it would be a shame not to! This week’s stories have all been firm favourites in past years so we know the children will get lots out of them.
Our rhyme of the week is 5 shiny conkers. Many thanks to those of you who went out conker collecting for us over the past few weeks.
Five shiny conkers on a conker tree,
Beautiful and brown, don’t you all agree?
Along came the wind,
And down one fell,
And a squirrel came to find it in it’s green spiky shell.

This week’s stories are all a little bit spooky, but we know the children will enjoy the surprises in them all.

This week we are reading a different version of The Three Bears and we are introducing The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We will have lots of opportunities to retell these stories using our story table in nursery.
We are also reading Walking Through the Jungle and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, which we will have opportunities to act out with lots of noise and movement.

Our counting rhyme of the week is 5 Currant Buns, which can be found here and our song of the week is the Little Green Frog, which we hope will help develop the voice sounds aspect of the Letters and Sounds phonics programme. We are learning some Makaton signs to use along with these songs, so encourage your child to show you what they have learned.
Our stories for this week include some well known classics.

Our rhymes of the week are all about apples. Our apple trees in the allotment have had a great year and we are really enjoying tasting the different varieties!
